A content management system is a software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Website like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, music, video, photos, documents or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don’t have to.

There is much content management system which is frequently used around the entire globe. Some of the popular which we are using among them are listed below:

  • WordPress
  • Joomla
  • Drupal
  • Alfresco

WordPress started in 2003 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day. We have developed many websites for our clients and delivered competent results in less timeframe. WordPress is a powerful tool which makes your coding life easier with help of it’s already made plugins, Design and UI with its unbeatable themes and many more.

Drupal is another CMS that has a very large active community instead of focusing on blogging as a platform. It is more of a pure CMS. A plain installation comes with a ton of optional modules that can add lots of interesting features like forums, OpenID, user blogs, profiles and more. One of Drupal’s most popular features is the Taxonomy module which allows for multiple levels and types of categories for content types. It has a very active community powering it and has excellent support for plugins and other general questions.

Alfresco is a JSP beefy enterprise content management solution that is surprisingly easy to install. A really useful feature of Alfresco is the ability to drop files into folders and turn them into web documents. Alfresco might be a little bit more work than some of the other CMS and isn’t as beginner-friendly, it certainly is quite usable given the massive power of the system. The administration backend is clean and well-designed. While Alfresco might not be a great choice for most simple sites, it’s an excellent choice for enterprise needs.
